"The Ultimate Wedding Gift: 10 Reasons to Do a Boudoir Shoot"

As a female photographer, I have had the pleasure of working with many brides on their boudoir shoots, and I have seen firsthand the incredible transformation and empowerment that these shoots can bring. Here are my top 10 reasons why I believe every bride should consider doing a boudoir shoot:

  1. Boost self-confidence: A boudoir shoot can be a great way to boost self-confidence and feel empowered. Seeing yourself in a beautiful and confident light can do wonders for your self-esteem and make you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

  2. Perfect wedding gift: A boudoir album or print makes for a unique and intimate wedding gift for your partner. It shows your commitment and love, and can be a special reminder of your relationship on your wedding day and beyond.

  3. Create lasting memories: A boudoir shoot allows you to create lasting memories of this special time in your life. You can look back on the photos and relive the excitement and romance of your wedding day.

  4. Experiment with your style: A boudoir shoot is a great opportunity to experiment with different looks and styles. You can try out different lingerie, makeup, and hairstyles to see what works best for you.

  5. Professional hair and makeup: A professional hair and makeup artist can help you look and feel your best during the shoot. They can help you achieve a polished and glamorous look that you might not be able to achieve on your own.

  6. Feel sexy: Boudoir photography can help you feel sexy and confident in your own skin. It’s a chance to embrace your femininity and celebrate your body, no matter what size or shape you are.

  7. Pamper yourself: A boudoir shoot is a chance to pamper yourself and indulge in some self-care. You can take some time for yourself and enjoy being pampered by the photographer and stylist.

  8. A unique addition to your wedding album: A boudoir shoot can add a unique and personal touch to your wedding album. It’s a way to include intimate and romantic photos that you might not want to share with everyone.

  9. Make a statement: A boudoir shoot can be a bold and empowering statement. It’s a way to embrace your sexuality and celebrate your body, and it can be a great way to express yourself and your personality.

  10. Have fun: Above all, a boudoir shoot should be fun! It’s a chance to let loose and have a good time, and to create memories that you’ll cherish for years to come.

I believe that every bride deserves to feel beautiful and confident on her wedding day, and a boudoir shoot can be a great way to achieve that. Whether you’re looking for a special gift for your partner or just want to celebrate yourself, a boudoir shoot is a wonderful way to do it.

Shooting in Hong Kong's Heat

I am blessed with wonderful friends who would be willing to stand still during 36 degrees for me to shoot! Honestly the heat is off the charts these days, it really wasn’t a pleasant shoot in a way that Kyo the make up artist had to wipe off sweat for our models every 3 seconds and I had to countdown 3, 2, 1 before I hit the shutter button for every shot so that Dan and Jenn could open their eyes under the sun.

I really do not recommend doing pre-wedding/ engagement photos during mid Summer, UNLESS your love story revolves around sweat, heat, burn but mostly sweat. I would however recommend a sunset shoot during the summer on the beach, that way we could go into the waters with the gorgeous sunset as your backdrop!

Did I also mention I got heavily sunburnt? Well, I have tried it so that you wouldn’t have to winkwink *

Shoot Location: Shek O Beach/ Shek O Village areas, Tai Kwun
Time: 13:00

After coming out from Shek O, we headed for Tai Kwun, also a popular destination for photo taking (instagrammable lvl: 7/10). It was as a lot more relaxed since it was around 5pm then and there are air conditioned shops here and there for a quick break!

Before & After- Styled Bridal Shoot Edit

I know it’s a bit odd to have the first blog post on editing. It is one of the last step of the process however a super important step and most people seem to underestimate or overlook it! A photographer’s work does not end after the wedding. Perhaps a better title I should give myself is- Marketer-Planner-Stylist-Photographer-Editor.

You can guess this blog post is going to be about the “Editor” part of the job ;)

One misconception people have is that the images comes straight from the camera, like I could just directly hand people the memory card at the end of the night and that’s the job done (I wish it was that quick!) Well technically speaking yes it comes from my camera, however NOT the final images that I spend hours on editing. As a photographer I hope my pictures come out well and composed but some are just not as vibrant or warm, contrasting enough or the skin tone needs fixing.

I was going through my hard drive the other day and I found this styled photoshoot I did 6 years ago! The model Dina is gorgeous and I knew with the experience I have now, I must revisit and re-edit these! Left images are straight from the camera and on the right are processed images.

For me the “Editor” part takes the longest time to do in my position as a “Marketer-Planner-Stylist-Photographer-Editor”. People usually think wedding photography is too expensive because they only see the hours that are put in during the “PHOTOGRAPHER” role of our job.
